| Description |
English: Amir Aharoni, keynote speaker at the Wikimedia-UNISA meetup in Pretoria, South Africa, where he discussed a) Wikipedia in each language as part of the internet culture around it and b) Creating new wikipedia articles with ease using Content Translation - step by step. He used Mikhail Lomonosov as an example of a scientist who improved his native Russian science and grammar vocabulary at a time when Latin would have been the accepted medium. Many of the terms that Lomonosov introduced are today taught to every Russian schoolboy, and constitute the accepted vocabulary. The translation activities of the Catalan wikipedia and the western edition of the Punjabi wikipedias were also discussed. |
