Español: Portada del libro "Vita Christi cartuxano" de Ludolphus de Saxonia (Ludolfo de Sajonia) y traducida a lengua romance por fray Ambrosio Montesino. Esta fue la primera obra impresa en Alcalá de Henares, el 22 de noviembre de 1502.[1] "La composición está dividida en dos partes: la inferior, que ostenta el escudo unificado de los reinos de España, sostenidos por el águila de los Reyes Católicos, y una filacteria alrededor que dice «Vita Cristi cartuxano româçado por fray Ambrosio»; y la parte superior, que representa una escena enmarcada por columnas, en la que aparecen los Reyes Católicos bajo un dosel, recibiendo el libro de manos de un franciscano arrodillado ante ellos, mientras que otro fraile más joven permanece a la izquierda, asistiendo a la escena reverencialmente, con las manos ocultas en el hábito. Este último personaje es probablemente Ambrosio Montesino, el autor del libro, y el que se arrodilla ante los reyes es seguro el Cardenal Cisneros." [2] |
