English: Presumed portrait of Marguerite of Lorraine (1615-1672), widow of Gaston, Duke of Orléans (1608-1660) (compare with images below).
Italiano: "Nell'Inventario della Villa del Poggio Imperiale del 1860-1861 l'opera è c osì descritta: "Un quadro a olio su tela [...] nel quale vi è dipinta Prin cipessa con velo nero in testa, e croce sul petto; con oramento scorniciat o, tinto giallo e oro". L'opera potrebbe raffigurare Enrichetta d'Inghilte rra, duchessa d'Orléans, come sembrerebbero confermare le somiglianze con la donna ritratta in una tale conservata sempre nei depositi di Palzzo Pit ti (Inv. P. Imperiale 545), ricordata proprio come ritratto della duchessa d'Orleans nell'Inventario della Villa del 1860-1861. L'ipotesi sembra con fermata dal confronto con un altro ritratto delle Gallerie fiorentine (Inv . 1890, n. 766; cfr. "Pittura francese..., 1977, p. 167, n. 113), opera at tribuita a Henri e Charles Beaubrun. Enrichetta Maria di Francia (1609-166 9) era figlia di Enrico IV e sposò Carlo I" [1]
