Summary
[edit]DescriptionAmanita muscaria fungus, Shave Wood, New Forest - geograph.org.uk - 254883.jpg |
English: Amanita muscaria fungus, Shave Wood, New Forest Commonly known as fly agaric, the bright red cap is easily spotted against the leaf litter on the woodland floor. Its colour is an obvious warning against ingestion by humans - my mushroom identification book says "Do not try tasting this fungus. [In addition to muscarin and muscimol] it contains further, not yet analysed poisons which are dangerous to health and can, in rare cases, prove fatal". |
