Description
Deutsch: Die Villa Am Sandwerder 39 in Berlin-Nikolassee, vermutlich im Winter 1945/46. Mehrere Fenster auf der Gartenseite des Hauses waren beim Endkampf um Berlin oder danach zerstört worden. Seit 1934 war die Villa von dem 1933 nach Ontario (Kanada) emigrierten Bauherrn Dr. med. Bruno Mendel an den Filmregisseur Arnold Fanck (1889–1974) vermietet. 1939 wurde sie auf Drängen von Mendels Verwalter Otto Guttmann im Rahmen der „Arisierung“ für 80.000 Reichsmark an Fanck veräußert. In der unmittelbaren Nachkriegszeit wurde die Villa von dessen kriegsversehrtem Sohn Arnold Ernst (1919–1994) genutzt. 1953 wurde die Villa von Arnold Fanck an die Familie Mendel zurückerstattet. Dafür erhielt er ein Rückerstattungsentgelt und musste für die Zeitspanne von 1939 bis etwa 1953 eine Miete nachentrichten. – Die von Heinrich Schweitzer (1871–1953) geplante Villa in der Stilistik der Neuen Sachlichkeit wurde 1928/29 errichtet. Bauherr Mendel besaß auch die nebenliegende Villa Am Sandwerder 37.
