Summary[edit]

Description
English: Alley between Bristol Street and Bathampton Street, Swindon This is part of the Railway Village, a conservation area that is an early example of housing built specifically for its workers by a major employer in the 19th century. The streets are named after stops on the GWR railway. Those in the western part of the village are stations west of Swindon. In the eastern section the same approach applies where there are London and Oxford Streets. The village is now owned by the local council. In the background is the Mechanics' Institution, semi-derelict at present and 'at risk'.
