Description
Español: Retrato alegórico del rey Fernando VI de España (1713-1759), que fue hijo del rey Felipe V de España. En la obra aparece el rey de pie sobre un estrado, con armadura y manto real; lleva el collar de la Orden del Toisón de Oro y la banda de la Orden del Espíritu Santo. Dos alegorías femeninas le rinden homenaje: la Agricultura, que sostiene una cornucopia, y el Arte con el caduceo de Mercurio y las tres coronas de 1aurel, acompañada del pequeño genio del dibujo. Los símbolos de la arquitectura, pintura y escultura ocupan la zona inferior, junto a un amorcillo que descansa sobre armaduras y espadas. Sobre el sillón del trono se ven el cetro y la corona. La Fama, aparece entre nubes, detrás del Rey, y difunde sus virtudes como gobernante. El cuadro fue un encargo de la Academia, y conserva su espléndido marco original de madera tallada y dorada con las tres coronas de laurel.
