| Description |
English: Airfield country - from Bear's Downs to the sea. This photo shows why there were a number of airfields in this area in the Second World War. The viewpoint is at 127 metres above sea level, most of the land between here and the sea is at about 100 metres, ending with cliffs down to the sea to the West. The area is divided by steep sided valleys - it certainly isn't flat to cycle across! But there are flat areas big enough for airfields. |
