"Abby Kelly Foster, born and bred in the Blackstone Valley, with strong Quaker training and a fiery spirit, campaigned against the evils of slavery as an agent for the Massachusetts Anti-Slavery Society. She helped teach young Frederick Douglass fundamentals about the 'practical business of entering a strange town and organizing' successful meetings." (John H.
