English: a photo of a farmer on the tractor, turning the huge mobile role of flexible water pipe to spray the peat fields with their characteristic rather loose and sandy structure in Drenthe; photo Fons Heijnsbroek, May 2012 – The soil of the former peat fields in Drenthe becomes dry very quickly, because the peat soil cannot hold the rain water very well. So the farmers in Drenthe need to spray very soon in the season when the spring is rather dry or warm. They are well prepared as the enormous length of the water pipe in the roller illustrates.
