the old blockhouses, pierced with port holes. Within the enclosure are theofficers quarters, guard-house, barracks, commissary and maga-zine, with the hospital building just outside. When built, thefort was enclosed by a palisade of cedar pickets, ten feet high, intended as a defenseagainst Indians.
