Hisfather, who was one of the early settlers at Cleburne,Texas, is still living there a successful farmer andstock raiser, being now sixty years of age. The motherwas born in Texas, where she was educated and mar-ried, and her death occurred in New Mexico m July,1905, at the age of forty-six. During his boyhood Karl G. McDonald attendedschool in western Texas, and finished a business courseat Fort Worth in 1903. As soon as he was throughschool he found employment with a laundry companyin New Mexico, and the four years that he spent theregave him a solid foundation for his business career.After working at different places he came to Vernon in1909 and established the Empire Laundry.
