Summary[edit]

Description
English: A favourite pastime ... of pigs is rooting. They break up the soil with their snouts in order to find tasty morsels in the earth. Pigs have a keen sense of smell, and they can be trained like sniffer dogs to detect scents. In the Mediterranean, specially trained pigs are often used for finding the fruiting bodies of truffles (expensive mushrooms that grow underground in close association with the roots of specific trees).
