Titch-field has four fairs, vvl. on the Saturday fort-night before Lady-day, May 14, for toys ;on September 25, for hiring fervants, and onSaturday fortnight before St. Thomass day, fortoys- Southampton was anciently called Hantun,from its being feated on a bay, in ancient timesnamed Trifanton, or the bay of Anton, now calledSouthampton-water; but at length it took thename of South-Hanton, or Hampton, to diHin-guifh it from Hampton and Northampton. It isfituated between the rivers IXle and Itchins;,twenty-iive miles fouth-eaft of Salifbury, twelvefouth of Winchefter, and feventy-eight v/eft byfouth of London.
