Summary[edit]

Description
English: A clear message Written across the whole width of the entrance to Kelsey Close: Private - No Turning. The new houses in new Kelsey Close are bordered by Old Hunstanton Road (B1161) in the south and Golf Course Road in the east; the entrance turns off the latter. Hunstanton became famous as a seaside resort during Victorian times and it has the unusual distinction of being an east coast resort that faces west and for this reason gets more than its fair share of sun and is also known as Sunny Hunny. The area now called Old Hunstanton is the original village whereas the newer resort town of Hunstanton St Edmund was developed by the then Lord of the Manor (Styleman Le Strange), who, with the arrival of the railway in 1860, envisioned a place where gentlefolk could stroll and relax whilst taking in the sea air. Once described as 'the poor man's St Moritz', the town was seen as an ideal place for a health cure and in 1897 a Dr Latham of Cambridge suggested that Hunstanton was 'as good as Switzerland'. http://www.west-norfolk.gov.uk/default.aspx?page=21890
