| Description |
English: A Somerset mile, Stogumber A sign next to the crossing at the south east edge of Stogumber station states that (Stogumber) village is a mile away. "But that's a Somerset mile" said one of the railway officials. "It'll seem more like two miles - it's mostly uphill".
He was right - it did seem more than a mile, but it was well worth it, for there is much to see (and photograph) in Stogumber village. And of course, the walk back to the station was mostly downhill. |
