A Medieval copper alloy incomplete purse frame (AD1450-1500).
Description
English: A Medieval copper alloy incomplete purse frame (AD1450-1500). The curved purse frame is constructed from a strip of copper alloy that is worked to form a right angle along the length. Both ends terminate in a loop for suspension. The frame is slightly distorted and one end is missing and the other terminal is broken across the loop. The front edge is decorated with a foliate pattern and an inscription “[---]EO HONOR ET GLORIA” inlaid with niello. The folded over section is undecorated with perforations along the length to secure the cloth purse. The holes are evenly spaced along the length with five further holes closer together at one end.

Dimensions: length: 168.89mm; width: 7.63mm; thickness: 7.49mm; weight: 44.64g.
