Description

Apollo 17 Hasselblad image from film magazine 148/NN - Earth, LM Inspection, Orbital.
This photo was used in Figure 4-9 of the Apollo 17 Preliminary Science Report (SP-330, 1973), which has the following caption:
For the first time on an Apollo mission, the Antarctic icecap was visible during the Apollo 17 TLC. This full-disk view encompasses much of the South Atlantic Ocean, virtually all the Indian Ocean, Antarctica, Africa, a part of Asia, and, on the horizon, Indonesia and the western edge of Australia.
