Summary[edit]

Description
English: A wasp found in much of Earth's Northern Hemisphere is the German wasp (Vespula germanica). It is native to Europe, temperate Asia and northern Africa. The specimen in the picture is a fully grown worker (female) with a length (head to abdomen) of about 14 mm. It is leaving an apple, which was hollowed out by its colony. The small crumbs below the insect are pieces of the fruit – cut out by the wasp using its mandibles.
