English: Affordable Care Act cost comparison estimate for the five different plans. This chart may not be used to estimate anyone's actual costs, and is just a demonstration of the difference between paying 100%, 40%, 30%, 20%, and 10% of the cost, up to $6350, for the Catastrophic, Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum plans. The actual plans that are available contain a wide variety of deductibles and co-pays, which dramatically change the actual cost of health care. The bottom, cost, axis, is the cost of health care if all costs were paid out of pocket. For example, a 27 year old who incurs $2000 of actual health care costs would in these examples, pay from $2700 to $4000 depending on the plan chosen, and a 50 year old with $2000 in actual health care costs would pay from $4000 to $6500. $10,000 of health care would cost a 27 year old from $4600 to $8000 depending on plan, and for a 50 year old, would cost from $7200 to $9000. Out of pocket costs are capped at $6350 for all plans, which does not include premiums. Some plans have lower caps.
