Original Image Name: Piciwiki_israel_80834_קטן עלים_0108.jpg Notes: מתוך סדרת נופי צומח עצי חורש של עוזי פז.שקד קטן עלים הוא שיח או עץ נשיר, הגדל בר בארץ. הוא דומה לשקד המצוי אך שונה ממנו בעיקר בעליו ובפריו. העלה פשוט אורך הטרף כ3-2 ס"מ, שפתו משוננת. לעיתים מופיעות בליטות זעירות בשפה. הפטוטרת קצרה ולה עלי לואי קצרים נשירים. העלים מסורגים על הגבעול. בניגוד למיני שקד אחרים אין לענפי השקד קטן עלים קוצים.הפרחים דו מיניים פורחים בחודשי פברואר מרץ, לרוב לפני הלבלוב. בזמן הפריחה מתכסה העץ בקבוצות קבוצות של פרחים גדולים בצבע לבן ורוד. הפרחים ריחניים ומושכים חרקים.
