| Description |
English: Locomotive 60019 Bittern arrives at Platform 1, Newport Station with a "Cathedrals Express" steam special from London Paddington to Cardiff, Saturday December 5th 2009.
Built at Doncaster in 1937 for the London & North Eastern Railway, Bittern was numbered 4464. After nationalisation in 1948 her British Railways number was 60019. Withdrawn from BR stock in September 1966, she has had several owners since then. Her current home is on the Mid-Hants Railway (Watercress Line). She often hauls steam specials such as the one shown here. |
