Summary[edit]

Description
English: As Charlie Medical Company prepares for a mass casualty training event, Sgt. Carrie Ozbek, medic, treats a real-life patient. A soldier coming in with heat exhaustion, Ozbek and her assistant, Spc. Terrance Sterling, also a medic, immediately start treating her. "We want to ensure we treat all our patients as soon as possible," explains Ozbek. "With heat casualties, we loosen up all their clothing, which allows air to start moving around their body. Then we wrap them with an ice blanket, and check their vitals." After checking vitals, Ozbek starts prepping the casualties arm for an IV and Sterling preps the IV bag by shocking it. "We shock the bag before hooking the tube up to the IV to get all the air out of it," explains Sterling. "We do not want to pump in an air bubble with the liquid, because then we would have a whole other situation to deal with."
