Description 330-PS-6386 ( NPC 19834): Presentation of the battle flag USS Higbee (DDR 806). Left to right: Rear Admiral Lamont Pugh, MC, USN; Surgeon General and Chief of BUMED; Captain Winnie Gibson, NC, USN, Director of the Navy Nurse Corps; Captain Wade De Weese, USN, (Retired), Director, U.S. Naval Academy Museum; and Captain Lindsey Williamson, USN, former Commanding Officer of USS Higbee, now with Bureau of Personnel. Note, USS Higbee was the first U.S. Navy warship to be named for a female member of the U.S. Navy. Photograph released December 3, 1953. (4/14/2015).
