Summary[edit]

Description 26-G-4385: Normandy Invasion, June 1944. Coast Guard-Manned LST Heads into French Coast. A section of the French shoreline is photographed from a Coast Guard-manned LST moving in the beach to make connection with a rail spur jutting to the water’s edge. When the union is completed, rail cars resting on the vessel’s track-equipped tank deck will roll ashore to start operation on the Army Transportation Corp’s vast network which supplies Allied armies on the Western Front. The Tank Landing Ship serves as a floating link between railroads in England and France, Jun 1944. (5/19/2015).
