Description 26-G-2855: Normandy Invasion, June 1944. Coast Guardsman Killed in France Invasion Taken on board Battleship. A dead U.S. Coast Guardsman, coxswain of an LCVP, is taken onboard a U.S. battleship, not identified, with American Rangers and captured German and Italian Prisoners. The Coast Guardsman was shot down by a German sniper when his landing craft was unloading troops on the coast of France, June 1944. (5/19/2015).
