Summary[edit]

Description 26-G-2634: Normandy Invasion, June 1944. Minesweeper Before Its Final Plunge off “Utah” Beach. USS Tide (AM 125), a U.S. Navy minesweeper that preceded the Normandy Invasion armada, dies in the waters off France. This striking picture, made from USS Threat (AM-124), shows the stricken vessel burning as USS PT 509 and USS Pheasant (AM-61) other ships stand by to pick up survivors. Tide sank a few moments later. Also at NARA II as 80-G-651677.
