Description
English: O Congresso Nacional recebe nesta terça-feira (17), a projeção das cores vermelha, laranja, amarela, verde, azul e roxa, representativas da bandeira LGBTQIA+, em alusão ao Dia Internacional de Combate à LGBTIfobia. O termo se refere à discriminação baseada em orientação sexual e identidade de gênero.

A data marca a retirada da homossexualidade da lista internacional de distúrbios mentais pela Organização Mundial da Saúde (OMS), em 17 de maio de 1990. Até então, uma série de países ainda tratava homossexuais como pessoas com desvios patológicos mentais, o que levava a preconceitos e violações como terapias de reversão.

O objetivo das ações em torno da data é alertar tanto para as conquistas já alcançadas quanto para as barreiras que ainda precisam ser superadas para que sejam plenos e efetivos a inclusão e o direito à igualdade da comunidade LGBTQIA+.
