Summary[edit]
Description1945(07) Jake Lee in his Jeep Slow-n-Steady 644th TD Bn, Recon Company.jpg |
English: T/5 James Lee is shown in his jeep named "Slow-n-Steady" in this photograph believed to have been taken around July 1945 in Germany - a few months after V-E Day. He was a member of the Reconnaissance Company of the 644th Tank Destroyer Battalion Reconnaissance Company. The jeep has modified fenders and a wire cutter is seen attached to the front bumper. (Wire cutters similar to this were used on many vehicles on the front lines. Their purpose is to cut wires stretched across roads by the enemy that would have harmed or killed riders in the vehicles as they passed through.) On the left behind the jeep are 3 children. On the right in the background there appear to be 2 armored scout vehicles. |
