Description
Português: Porto Trombetas está localizada no Noroeste do estado do Pará. A vila foi construída para atender aos trabalhadores da Mineração Rio do Norte (MRN), que faz extração de bauxita. As instalações de Porto Trombetas estão localizadas no município de Oriximiná (PA), à margem direita do rio Trombetas, um dos afluentes do rio Amazonas.

A Reserva Biológica do Trombetas (Rebio Trombetas), criada por Decreto Federal em 21 de setembro de 1979, também é preservada com apoio da Mineração Rio do Norte. A Mineração Rio do Norte é parceira do Instituto Chico Mendes de Conservação da Biodiversidade (ICMBio) na preservação da reserva. Anualmente, a empresa destina recursos financeiros que auxiliam o Instituto na fiscalização e no desenvolvimento de atividades de educação ambiental junto às comunidades que habitam a reserva.

A área de 385 mil hectares da Rebio Trombetas é berço da reprodução de quelônios no projeto Tartarugas da Amazônia, executado numa parceria do ICMBio, Instituto de Pesquisas da Amazônia (INPA), Petrobras Ambiental, Prefeitura Municipal de Oriximiná, Polícia Militar do Pará, Mineração Rio do Norte (MRN) e as comunidades ribeirinhas da reserva.
