Summary[edit]

Description Posing by the ferry terminal at Gedser with an impressive station building behind. By the time this photo was taken on 15 September 1997 the service to Gedser had been reduced to a couple of trains per day to connect with ferries to and from Rostock. Prior to 1995, train ferries worked between Gedser and Warnemünde including two through services a day between København and Berlin. These have now been diverted to go via Rødby and Hamburg and there are no longer any passenger trains to Gedser. Class MZ no. 1455 is seen on train Re5328, 11:28 Gedser to Nykøbing F. MZs were built by Nohab on license from General Motors EMD between 1967 and 1978. Most examples have been withdrawn or sold on to other railways including 16 to Australia.
