English: On Saturday 2 December 2006 the en:146th Airlift Wing, en:Channel Island Air National Guard Station, en:California Air National Guard flew their last two en:C-130E Hercules for the final time. The aircraft were delivered to the Air Force in the early 60's and came to the 146th in 1974. They served en:California and the America in many ways including bringing in relief supplies and tranporting injured citizens natural disasters, most recently en:Hurricane Katrina. They were also capable of delivering fire retardant to help fight wildfires. Member of the 146th Airlift Wing greet aircraft 1862 and 1833 after returning from their final mission. There last flight plan included landing at en:Van Nuys Airport, the former home to the 146AW, and en:Palmdale Airport. |
