Summary[edit]

Description
中文(繁體):大菁(Strobilanthes cusia)所染布匹,臺北市大同區延平次分區玉泉里(大稻埕河溝頭)
English: Textile was an important commodity in the trade between Indigenous and Han communities. Through this trade, textiles gradually replaced animal hides, such as deer skins, as the primary material for Indigenous clothing, especially among communities putting less emphasis on waving techniques. As a result, textiles became an item with cultural significance. For instance, in the Makatao Plains Indigenous communities of Feng-shan's Eight Villages, red cloth was a crucial gift exchanged during discussions of matrimonial arrangements. Even today, brightly colored red fabrics remain part of the formal attire worn during ceremonies by the Tsou group.
