| Description |
Grows on wet sandy soil along river banks and ditches, fences, roads, on waste grounds, garbage places. Common cocklebur is a poisonous plant, but ut used (leaves, stems, roots) in traditional medicine in South Asia and traditional Chinese medicine. The Botanical genus name Xanthium comes from the greek word ξανθός - "yellow", because the leaves of common cocklebur was used to produce a yellow dye. Растёт на влажной песчаной почве по берегам рек и канав, у заборов, дорог, по пустырям, мусорным местам. Дурнишник обыкновенный — ядовитое растение, однако в Средней Азии и в китайской народной медицине с лечебной целью используют листья, стебли, корни. Ботаническое название рода Xanthium происходит от греческого слова ξανθός - "желтый". Ранее из листьев дурнишника обыкновенного получали желтый краситель. |
