Summary[edit]

Description
English: 'Securus' by Tony O'Malley Bronze sculpture by Tony O'Malley http://web.mac.com/tony.omalley/iWeb/Site/Home.html at the entrance to Easton Meadows, Leixlip. Commissioned by Kildare County Council, the sculpture is about the feeling of being secure, the importance of truly loving relationships - the source of all true security from which everything else issues. The sculpture is based in part on a painting by Gustav Klimmt, a story from Roman Mythology and Ovid of poetry, kindness and hospitality in which a couple, favoured by 'the gods' is granted their wish and turned into intertwining trees at their deaths. The adjacent oak tree intertwines in the same way.
