Description
English: "Staid about 1/2 an hour when Butler, Aylsworth, Murphy, Welsh and my self left the shanty and went down the creek to below Welshes Landing all hands turned back. Aylsworth & I went a hed to Welshes and left the rest talking. Had dinner at Welshes and left about 2 p.m. for Genarouxs shanty road with them in sleigh. When at Genarouxs gave Butler an order for $5.00 to send to Mrs Norris & an other for John Gammon for $15.00 gave him statement of 3 shtys. Aylsworth & Butler staid at Mellons overnight all oats to be delivered 45c Bus."

"Thursday 10th [December 1874]: Fine clear day but cold. Staid at Genarouxs posting books went to Mellons Depot at noon to weigh Beef for Wm Blair weight 1943 lb gave an order for the same @ 4 1/2c amt $67.44. Six hides to be delivered at Queenboro before paid. Wrote the same on order. Butter & Aylsworth left here today for Maloneys by way of Queensboro. Genaroux commensed to clear away & drwa covering for new shanty gave Aylsworth receipt for $15.00 paid Jas Mellon. Paid C. Baran $15.00."
"Friday 11th: Dark morning snowed verry heavy until about 9 a.m. Left Genaroux and walked to Welshes went in to see Genaroux building shanty met Drum in road. Had dinner at Welshes. Clear & cold in after noon left Welshes and walked to Murphys. Welsh came down to Landing to see men cutting out the creek.Murphys men doing the same. Met Tim on creek went from there to Shanty with him & staid over night."
