English: "Novr 22nd 1874: Sunday. Fine day sun shining left Genarouxs Shanty about nine OClock a.m. with L. O'Brien & young Cullin. Walked to Welshes Shanty distance seven miles staid there overnight."

"23rd: Dark day rained until about eight O'Clock very heavy. Cleared off until about 1/2 past two p.m. Rained very heavy until 1/2 past 3. Cleared off with high wind. Helpt O'Brine to kill twenty two head cattle & weighed them. Total weight 1045 lbs. Welsh killed previous to date 5 head weighting 2370 l."
"Nover 24th: Dark cloudy day high winds. Snowed all day. Left Welshes shanty in the morning with L. O'Brien & John Cullin. Wlaked to Murphy's shanty distance 3 1/2 miles. Road through Swamps very soft got down twice and got my feet wet. Reached the Shanty about nine O'clock a.m."
"25th: Fine clear day. Helpt O'Brien to kill 21 head cattle at Murphys done it in 4 1/2 hours weighed all & done at 3 O'Clock p.m. Beef 8642 lbs hides 1445 lbs & Tallow 751 lbs. Gave O'Brien order on Rathbun & Son for the ammt @4 1/2 c Amt $487.70c."
