Summary[edit]

Description

The question of the day is, will the Flicker system behave itself? The antics on Friday were disappointing, we lost several comments and I worked harder than a pair of nesting robins, in my search for a solution. As per the catalogue we start the week off in Harcourt Street, but It is not a Harcourt Street that I recognise. I see lots of bicycles and bowler hats, but there is no sign of the internal combustion engine, dating might be difficult!

And our suspicions (that this wasn't/isn't Harcourt Street) were verified. And, if the street doesn't seem familiar to those who know Dublin today, it is because it is (thankfully) in the minority of those that no longer exist. [/photos/91549360@N03/ O Mac] confirmed, corroberated by a link offered by [/photos/scorbet/ sharon.corbet], that the remaining buildings in this corner of Dublin were substantially demolished during the 1980s. Though perhaps delayed by some holdouts (notably Stein's Opticians), the street officially ceased to exist by 1992. Investigations and input from [/photos/gnmcauley/ Niall McAuley] suggest that our image was perhaps captured 80 years prior; during c.1912....
