Response to Yikrazuul's review

[edit]

I became a little saddened when I read Yikrazuul's response to my question and reflextion regarding my question to his original review, especially "but I am only a stupid non-Danish". After an initial feeling of insult and a further hour of reflexion I have come to the conclusion that we have a mutual misunderstanding and an incident of miscommunication. To clarify, my response was 1. A question (What are the technical issues?). 2 A reflexion regarding how a cultural background can influence a perceived featureness.

  1. Regarding tecnical issues, the question still remain unanswered. The image is a QI, and it is not evident for me what are the "technical issues" and the response does not explain that either. It merely list a series of elements which the reviewer does not like or appreciate, and I do not see what that has to do with the technical quality of the photo?
  2. Regarding the "as a Dane" part of my comment, the intention was not to claim that if you could not appreciate the (for me perceived) featureworthy elements in the photo you were stupid (because you were not a Dane). I think that there are clever and stupid people in every country of the world and that it is unrelated to nationality. Nor do i think that you are stupid. I think your latest comment was inconsiderate and a bit rude, but I see that as a symptom of miscommunication and maybe because you perceived my response as rude. It was meant as a reflexion, that although it has obvious wow for me it does not follow that people with other cultural backgrounds would feel the same, as they maybe would not be triggered by some elements in the photo as I do. I fully respect that other reviewers see no wow, and I am explicitly stating that if my photo is not able to demonstrate the featuredness without having to be explained, it is not doing its job well enough.

I need to correct some misunderstadings though.

  • Three of four people in the boat are wearing hats of graduation from the gymnasium. They are not worn by anyone. Nobody wears them if they have not recently graduated.
  • So what? You say. Well, most young people see the graduation as an important transition from adolscene to adult. At least I did +20 years ago, when I was in a similar stage in life. It is a very big day, and midsumer eve (symbolised by the bonfire and witch) are closely linked with the celebrations by the graduated students.
  • The celebration is highlighted by drinking champagne. Yes the young woman is also holding a can of beer in the other hand, which probably means she had a small hangover the next morning:-)

Now, I understand and respect that you do not appreciate these elements at all, and it is fine with me. But at least be factual. --Slaunger (talk) 20:42, 7 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
