Scope | Nominated as the most valued image on Commons within the scope: Théophile Ferré, photographic portrait |
Used in | Théophile Ferré, Paris Commune |
Reason | Deeply involved in the Paris Commune events, as prominent member of the Comittee of Public Safety of 1871, he is famous for having decided, as deputy-prosecutor, the execution of some hostages, among them (and "especially", as he said) the archbishop of Paris, Mgr Georges Darboy. After the "Bloody week" (21-28 may 1871), he was captured by the government troops and executed by shooting in november 1871. He is burried close to Louis Michel's body in the same cemetery, and it is said he was in deep love with her. This is a restored picture by myself, photo taken by Eugène Appert (photographe), the better we have IMO, with the better resolution and details. No geocode, as it is a studio shot, but in use of course. -- Jebulon (talk) |
