Info In Mitra fusiformis we have two subspecies, one of them - fusiformis - is a fossil form from the Pliocene of of Italy, the other - zonata - is a recent form which lives in the Mediterranean and Macaronesia (with the exception of the Azores). It is the rare case of a fossil and recent subspecies within one species.
