Question Being an agame ignorant, I'd like to ask how you distinguish between males and females? This one is identified as a male, and it appears to me that the shape of the head differs from the females? Is that correct? Comment Males, typically have an orange head and an orange tail when in mating season, females have bright yellow markings ([1]). This male has just started changing towards the orange colouring. If you want I can add 'male' to the scope. Lycaon (talk) 07:59, 27 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose Thank you for explaining me that. I do not think it is a sufficiently good illustration of the scope as these gender specific markings are really a notable characteristics of the species and they are not very apparent on the nominated photograph. The example you pointed me towards (which is unfortunately not on Commons) is a significantly better illustration of the species IMO as it shows both the male and female in their characteristic mating colours. A male subscope could certainly be relevant, but, here again, I do not think it is a sufficiently good illustration of the a male subscope, because the orange mating colours are not that well developed yet. I see you also have images of females, but here I actually think File:Agama planiceps Windhoek.jpg is the best female image we have as it illustrates all traits of the animal although your femal image here is the best illustration of the female markings, but here the rest of the animal is not that well illustrated. --Slaunger (talk) 10:32, 28 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
