Oppose Besides the fact that I consider 1600×1333 a far too low resolution for a digitized artwork, this reproduction does not respect the original's gloomy mood, but is artificially brightened, as anyone who has seen the painting himself can attest to.See comment below. -- JovanCormac 07:28, 11 October 2009 (UTC)
- May I ask when you have seen it? I seem to recall that this painting was cleaned a few years ago, and it is now considerably brighter that it was before. MartinD (talk) 17:32, 11 October 2009 (UTC)
- I just looked at the painting in the Rijksmuseum online gallery ([1]), and it seems that you are right, the painting is much brighter now than I remember it. However, my oppose still stands, as the resolution is too low for an artwork IMO, although I changed it from a "strong oppose" to a simple one. -- JovanCormac 17:44, 11 October 2009 (UTC)

- Oppose Resolution per Jovan. I have seen much higher resolutions artworks here in FP candidates and this one simply is not among the best on commons. --Korall (talk) 20:35, 12 October 2009 (UTC)
Info I suggest that File:Rembrandt van Rijn-De Nachtwacht-1642.jpg would be a better nomination, higher resolution and doesn't have the compression artifacts of this one. In fact this one looks like a crop and scaled down version of the one I suggest. --Tony Wills (talk) 01:22, 14 October 2009 (UTC)
