Shortly - now that I am uploading sometimes 10+ images per day, I am finding myself more and more often wishing for the ability to delete (my own) images - every now and then I'll realize I made a mistake with naming, and Commonist tends to replicate simple errors easily (I just realized I uploaded 20+ pictures with wrong city in title). Occasionally, I also find myself wanting to fix the category structure, but again, deleting categories after merger is not something I can do. All of that requires me to bother somebody else and results in much time wasted and delays in fixing things I could do easily myself. I have been active on Commons for over a year now, and I have been an admin on en-Wiki for 2+ years. I promise not to abuse the mop and bucket - I just want to help clean a little :) PS. This is my second nom, my last years' is here. I am much more active now in this project, and I really need the tools :) PS2. On En-Wiki I am one of the administrators voluntarily open to recall, and I this of course would apply here too. PS3. 7.  Oppose - I do realise that there are two sides to any argument. However an argument is still an argument and it takes two to create one. Given the still current request for arbitration on en wp I unable to support this user, sorry --Herby talk thyme 20:05, 6 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  10.  Neutral Has been in disputes over Polish/Russian topics on English Wikipedia for years. Category structure is a heated topic as it is. On the other hand, it doesn't appear that you have ever been abusing the admins tools on English Wikipedia. I might think about this more and change my vote. / Fred J 20:18, 6 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, I am convinced that the user is responsible enough. But I am still voting neutral, for the reason ALE! gave. / Fred J 15:16, 8 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  11.  Support Busy user, of course he's been in a few spats. I've mediated a couple of them and find that he's level headed. ~Kylu (u|t) 07:10, 7 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  12.  Oppose Piotrus has only few edits in the Commons and in the User talk namespaces. Which means that he had little interaction with other users so far. I do not see why it should be necessary to be an Admin to delete one's own images. You can do that easily with an {{Speedy}} tag. --ALE! ¿…? 11:36, 7 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Why should I burden others with things I can well do myself - and often do in English Wikipedia anyway? I am not at Commons for its "social club" value; I am here to upload images, tidy categories and clean up occasional errors in the database.--Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus Talk 20:56, 14 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  16. Reluctant but firm  Oppose. After thinking about this nom for several days, I feel I must oppose. I reviewed hundreds and hundreds of his edits here and on Wikipedia-en. Unfortunately the nom lacks self-awareness about his own weaknesses and areas of bias. He is slow to understand when he has made an error. And reluctant to let bygones be bygones in order to settle a dispute. This is especially an issue because he is quick to see and point out faults in others. Bottomline, I think it is too risky to give him admin tools here because to be of benefit to the project the nom must interact with users about cloudy situations. Dealing with users in matters related to uploads requires more diplomacy than this nom has displayed in the past. FloNight 15:30, 11 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Can you show me where - in the space of, let's say, past 2 years - I have abused an admin power on en wiki? I'd be more then happy to improve my behaviour, but first I need to know what I did wrong.--Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus Talk 20:56, 14 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Discussion

Thanks for applying.

I trust you when you say you need the tools. But on English Wikipedia, I have most often seen your name in connection with heated conflicts. I don't know the background so I would appreciate a comment from you why this is my experience. / Fred J 14:11, 6 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • Being now the 53rd most active user in the English Wikipedia project (out of 5,000,000 :D), my name tends to come up in a lot of places; I often have hundreds of edits per day, and contribute to various discussions, from content to policy. If you could be a little more specific I can answer more specifically, but I have never been judged of abusing admin tools. You can look at my logs to see how use my admin powers. Also, check my "post scriptum 2" update above.--Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus Talk 15:56, 6 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
