First Lieutenant Wallace B. Stanford wrote a short note to his parents on 1 January 1942, describing a small piece of a Japanese aircraft enclosed along with this note. Stanford describes the moment his men shot the plane from the sky. Note that Stanford erroneously dates the letter 1 January 1941 in his haste. From the Wallace B.
