English: "Aug 9, 1942
Dear Dad: It has been ages since I last wrote, but it is really no fault of mine. Where we are now is a long way from anything, but the Nippos and as for mail or mailing facilities-there just aren’t any. One thing that strikes me as quite a coincidence, in regard to this war, is the way Fritz and I keep coming together. When the show started he was in the states and I, as you know, was in Pearl Harbor. On December 26 I landed at Midway and who should meet me on the dock, or what was left of it, but Fritz. From Midway I returned to P.H. and two weeks later Fritz and his bunch come in. From P.H. to " From the Edward L.
