San Pedro, Calif. Dear Dad, It’s been a long time since I’ve written, but the ship has been on the go for the past two months and if you can put any credulence in these West Coast newspapers we’re due to set sail for Hawaii at any moment. From what I can gather from the papers, and as a rule the lowest reporter is better informed than the Admiral on Naval Affairs, the fleet is going to Pearl Harbor as a warning to Japan. What we are going to warn them about I don’t know. The papers were rather sketchy on that point. Things go on about the same aboard ship.
