| Description |
English: "Once in a blue moon they put out a decent meal and when they do I gorge myself. Today was one of those rare occasions, and if damned near required the mess officer to call out the guard in order to get me out of the mess hall. Tonight my belly is distended with hamburger steak, and I feel quite at peace with the world and the Marine Corps. Perhaps the sufficiency of hamburger inspired this letter. Who knows? I was sorry to hear about the weather, in regard to the tobacco, but glad to hear about the corn. I certainly hope you have a bumper crop and the price continues to climb. You’re certainly due for a break and this may be the year.
Write soon and let me know how things are going, and I’ll try to keep you posted on developments here.
