Long Beach, Calif.

Dear Dad:

I have a few moments of leisure and I’ll try to take advantage of them by writing this letter.

Saturday they began the concentration of the entire Pacific fleet here, Long Beach, and by Sunday noon the movement was completed.

Ordinarily the battleship and heavy cruiser divisions are the only ones stationed here, but by yesterday noon these divisions were augmented by the submarines, light cruisers, destroyers, some sixty odd, and the four aircraft carriers. Why the sudden concentration no one seems to know, but apparently we’re going out on some tactical problem.
