English: "You stay away from it for any length of time. Those are the sentiments of the majority and I don’t include myself among them. As far as I’m concerned one place is the same as any other, with the possible exception of the weather.
Another item, mentioned in Mother’s letter, was in regard to the Deery’s. Rich has been called to the colors and is now doing duty at Fort Knox Ky. Knowing that the pay of an Army Private is $21 per month, and that Rich was the main support of his Father and Mother, I wrote them last week and offered what financial aid I could. I haven’t heard from Washington-the Deery’s-as yet. All for the present. Love Ed" From the Edward L.
